Cameras - Image & Nature are fully digital and use Professional Nikon and Canon SLR Digital cameras for their work. If very high resolution reproduction is required we also work with transparency and negative cameras and use a Professional scanner to transfer the image to digital format. Having a fully digital workflow not only allows Image & Nature to maintain consistently high image standards but also reduces the overall cost to you, the customer. See also Colour Management

Canvas Prints - Image & Nature have teamed up with a top large format printer to be provide customers with stunning canvas prints wrapped onto wooden stretchers at an affordable price. Colour Management - Image & Nature use a Colour Managed Digital Workflow. This means that our monitors are fully calibrated so that the colours and tones displayed are as accurate as possible. Our printers are also colour managed so that what we see on our screens closely matches the prints. However, due to factors outside our control we can not guarantee full accuracy of colours. All images displayed on the web are not accurate representations of the original file or print that will be supplied. The internet does not allow for colour management information to be attached to images and also your own monitor, unless also calibrated, is unlikely to display accurate colours. If you require exact matching we would be happy to discuss this with you. Please contact us.

Comments - we have a high rate of customer satisfaction at Image & Nature - see our Testimonials. We believe this is because we put a great deal of our energies into Customer Services. If, for any reason you are not happy with the service we have provided we want you to tell us. Equally, we welcome positive feedback too!

Contracts - when you book an Image & Nature service you may be asked to sign a contract. This is essentially so that it is clear for both parties exactly what service will be supplied and what payment terms are required. We have found this is best for both parties to avoid misunderstandings and ensure you receive the exact service you require. It has become commonplace for internet users to 'right-click' or copy images they see on websites in order to send them to friends by email or save them as wallpaper etc. This is ILLEGAL unless you have been granted permission or licence from Image & Nature directly.
It is important to understand that photographers make money from the photographs they take and any unauthorised copying of these images is detrimental to their business and may result in an increase in prices. All photos taken by Image & Nature, regardless of the customer (unless under certain licensing circumstances) remain our copyright.

Design - Image & Nature Design services cover everything from Print to Web to Branding. More Info

Delivery - If ordered through Your I&N your prints or gifts should be dispatched on the same or next day and are delivered by First Class. Image & Nature will happily replace any item that goes missing via this method, free of charge. Bespoke products, such as CDs, large format prints and canvases etc will be dispatched as quickly as possible and depending on the payment method. If the item is of large value we will use the appropriate insured courier or parcel service. Whatever the service, you will be given an estimate of when you can expect your item when you contact us.

Digital - Image & Nature are fully digital. See also colour management, digital negatives, web-ready, file formats, resolution, optimised images.

Digital Artists - To provide the best possible service to our clients Image & Nature have formed reliable alliances with artists from many other genres, including Digital Artists.

Digital Negatives - As a rule Image & Nature do not offer the full resolution files generated by the cameras during a shoot for a client unless specifically arranged. This is for a number of reasons but essentially is introduces the possibility of copyright misuse. If we do arrange to provide the client with the Digital Negatives we will do so under licence contract and for an extra fee. For example - If you would like the digital negatives from your wedding we will provide them on CD for £100 flat fee (approx) and at least six months after the final delivery of the prints. This provides security for the Couple so that they can keep their memories forever and also ensures that the family and guests can order colour managed, top quality, professionally printed gifts and prints from Image & Nature after the wedding.

Downloads - currently image downloads from Your I&N are only available by arrangement. However, all our stock and events photos will have the option for download at various resolutions for different prices.

DVD - - Image & Nature can provide your images on DVD. There are various options available at different prices. See also digital negatives, web-ready, file formats

E-Commerce - Image & Nature have a strong relationship with their e-commerce providers and with www.Thirdlight.com providers of Your I&N. We are now able to take many different Payment Methods and should soon be able to take Credit and Debit card payments for all transactions (only Your I&N at present). For more information please contact us.

Email - Image & Nature conduct the majority of communications via email. This is our preferred method but if you are not comfortable with communicating in this manor please tell us. Please ensure that all emails have recognisable subject line as we have spam filters which may block emails with generic-type subjects. Image & Nature can not be responsible for any problems resulting from the loss or misdirection of emails but will do everything possible to follow-up by another method in the event of no response. It is also the client's responsibility to use another form of communication in the event of email failing.
Please note that email is not secure and clients should not transmit any personal details such as Credit card information by email. Image & Nature will not ask for such info by email. See also Spam, Viruses

File Formats - Image & Nature can provide images in a wide variety of file formats including TIFF, JPG, PSD, PNG, PDF, BMP, GIF etc. Our default format via email or web is JPG as it is cross-platform and can be highly compressed for ease of transmission. Our default formats for printing purposes are TIFF or PSD (PC). If you require a specific format please contact us.

Liability - see Insurance

Licensing - in some Commercial applications the client may require full usage rights and copyright ownership for the image created by Image & Nature. This is generally negotiated by both parties before a job commences and will require an extra fee depending on the application. In all other circumstances, Image & Nature retain the copyright to all images they produce. This keeps costs to the customer down and ensures that the image is only reproduced to a standard of which Image & Nature is proud. See also Copyright, Legal Pages

Make-Up - depending on the type of photo shoot, Image & Nature can provide a trusted and qualified Hair & Make-Up artist either as part of the package or at an extra cost. Model Release - in order to keep prices down Image & Nature may occasionally use images taken during shoots for customers in marketing or international stock libraries. If we intend to do this we will require you to sign a model release form to show that you approve for your image to be used in such a way. Image & Nature will still retain the copyright. We generally require everyone to sign model releases and if you do not wish to do so we may require extra payment. However, you will be warned well in advance if this is the case. Models - Image & Nature have worked with many models and can source them for your shoot at extra cost. Please contact us.

Optimised Images - Image & Nature provide optimisation in many different forms. All prints and hi-res files are optimised for colour - see Colour Management. Files to be used in print can be supplied in optimised CMYK if required. Files to be used on websites or to be sent by email will be optimised to your requirements. Our default method is to provide web images at 600 pixels longest side, saved as a JPEG and optimised to around the 25-30kb size (balancing size and quality - wholly dependent on the type of image). Thumbnails will also be provided 150 pixels longest side approx 4kb JPEG. If you require a different specification please tell us - perhaps you would like to receive the files at 800 pixels and uncompressed so you can do the optimisation yourself. Payment Methods - For prints and gift items from Image & Nature photos you can pay by Credit or Debit Card using the Your I&N galleries. Prints will be dispatched the same day (if ordered before 3pm) and gift items within 3 days. See Delivery.
For other services such as Design, Photo Shoots and Weddings Image & Nature currently accept payment by cheque, direct transfer (BACS or CHAPS via telephone or internet banking), PayPal or cash.
Payment is very simple: Send us a message with your order including service description, your contact details and delivery address. Once all details are confirmed between you and Image & Nature we will send you an email confirmation with your payment options. You may also request a printed invoice from Image & Nature if you prefer.

Cheques - Made payable to Image & Nature. Please include Invoice Number and your contact details on the reverse. N.B. require 3 working days to clear from receipt. Please send to our Postal Address

Direct Transfer - BACS or CHAPS payments may be made directly into our Bank Account - please contact us for our account information. Please include an easy to recognise reference with the payment - preferably the invoice or order number.

PayPal - payments are instant. Details on request.

Cash - Image & Nature only accept cash paid in person. Please do not send cash by post.

Credit & Debit Card - at present only available via Your I&N but coming Summer 2004.



Payment Terms - Image & Nature's payment terms are strictly Payment Now Due on receipt of Invoice. Should you or your Company have an accounting cycle which does not make this possible then we can arrange other payment terms with you. Image & Nature will not give credit or open accounts unless by specific arrangement. We reserve the right to refuse additional services to customers with payments outstanding. PayPal - PayPal enables any individual with an email address to securely, easily and quickly send and receive payments online. If you are not already registered with PayPal you will be required to register before processing your payment to Image & Nature. However, this is a very quick, completely secure and totally free process which will allow you to make payments to countless other web-based businesses in the future. Your subsequent Image & Nature orders will also be entirely hassle-free. See Payment Methods

Personal Services - There are two main sides to Image & Nature's work, Business and Personal. I&N Personal covers photography and design needs for individuals, families and those for whom the photos are for non-business purposes.

Picture Formats - By default Image & Nature will aim to provide photos in the size ratio of 6"x4" (i.e. 7.5"x5", 9"x6", 12"x8" etc). Other ratios are available on request (e.g. 10"x8"). Portraits - Image & Nature use Portraits in a wide sense. Model Portfolio Portraits, Business Portraits, Profile Photos, PR Portraits, Family Portraits, in fact any photo where a person or group wish to be photographed!

Press - Image & Nature have good relationships with Press organisations and can undertake any Press related assignment from Cheque Presentations to Celebrity Events. See our Press & PR section

Prices - Image & Nature reserve the right to change prices at any time without notice. See Rates

Printing Methods - For those that are technically minded, here is some information about our print devices and paper types. For small format work (up to 10"x15") we usually print on a number of FujiFilm Frontier 370 and 390 printers. These work by exposing red, green and blue laser light onto FujiFilm Crystal Archive photographic paper at 300 DPI (dots per inch). The fade resistance of the prints is rated at 150 years.
For large format work we use a Polielectronica Laserlab or a Hewlett-Packard Large Format Inkjet. The Polielectronica Laserlab is a world-class laser-based photographic device which prints onto Agfa Professional digital photographic paper at 254 DPI. The fade resistance of the prints is also rated at 150 years.

Rates - prices are included in each relevant service section but for bespoke services the following rates apply:
Hourly rate - first hour £150 then £95 per hour
Half-day - £400 (approx 4.5 hours)
Full-day - £800 (approx 9 hours)
For travel outside London Zones 1-4 a further charge may be applicable - please contact us.
For bespoke image adjustments, design or post-shoot work Image & Nature charge £50 per hour.

Resolution - Standard photo resolutions provided by Image & Nature are 72dpi for web-use and 300dpi for print. Please note that resolution by itself is not a good indicator of photo size or quality. JPEG compression, file format and image size also play a part. Therefore it may be perfectly feasible to provide a 100dpi file for printing if the size is +30cm (for example). Search - the Your I&N Galleries feature an Intelligent Search facility which is continuously being perfected and updated. Simply insert one or two keywords (singulars are best i.e. 'landscape' rather than 'landscapes'). If the intelligent search does not provide a result and you are confident that such a photo exists within Your I&N then please contact us - it is quite possible that our keywording has not been updated.

Viruses - Image & Nature have the very latest Anti-Virus Software in place on their systems and are extremely vigilant in filtering suspect emails. However, due to the phenomenal number of viruses and worms currently circulating on the internet, Image & Nature will not be responsible for any loss or damage caused by such virus transmitted from any of our email addresses. To the best of our knowledge viruses can not be transmitted via JPG or other image files so if we have sent you photos by email you can be assured that they will be safe. However, it is purely the client's responsibility to maintain adequate anti-virus protection. Due to virus attacks Image & Nature filter their email - please see email on how to prevent your correspondence from being blocked. Watermarking - to prevent Copyright Theft it is necessary for Image & Nature to place sometimes very obvious watermark images on their portfolio and Your I&N photos. This is purely a security measure and you can rest assured that any files or prints ordered will be of the highest quality and unwatermarked.

Web-Ready - on request Image & Nature can provide images to a specification that is perfect for display on the internet. For our standard defaults please see Optimised Images. See also Picture Formats, Resolution

Website - www.imageandnature.com comprises of two sections - the main information section www.imageandnature.com and the e-commerce and galleries of Your I&N. Wedding Albums - see Albums

Wedding Guests - when Image & Nature attend a wedding we like to have a good list of every guest that you would definitely like to be included in the photos. Generally we will coordinate this with the Best Man or Head Usher via the Bride & Groom well before the wedding. We will also provide a basic guide to posing for Wedding Photos to help Guests feel at ease and look their best on the day.
Please Note - Image & Nature are being paid to attend your wedding and provide you with the best possible photos of the day. The Bride & Groom or their family are our clients and everything we do will be for their benefit only. We may therefore ask the Bride & Groom politely to inform their guests of this and ask them to limit the use of their own cameras to occasions where Image & Nature are not taking photos or posing other guests. This is an important point as there is nothing worse than receiving photos where the guests are looking in all different directions whilst all their friends and family are standing behind the official photographer and taking their own photos - causing a distraction. We have been contracted by the Bride & Groom to provide a top-quality service. We will not be drawn into being part of the huddle of photographers struggling for the best position within the pack and would ask that the other guests respect this. That is not to say that we forbid the guests from taking their own photos, far from it, we simply ask that they are made aware of our presence and respect that we are there to capture the very best possible moments from the day and should not be hindered in any way from doing so.
